What's your name and where are you from?
My name is Gabrielle Nelson, but you can call me Gab. I'm originally from central Illinois - a place of cornfields, bean fields, and a whole lot of flat land. It's actually a great place to grow up, but by the time college rolled around you could say I was ready for a change of scenery... So set out for Arizona.
Throughout college, I found myself camping, climbing, snowboarding, and hiking as often as possible. It was an incredible chapter of life but hard at the same time. I had little passion for the career I was pursing, so after switching from degree to degree, I decided it was time to leave. It was a hard decision to make, and I'm not here to say dropping out is always the answer, but I will say who has the answer. It's God. God has a plan for our lives and as I grew in my relationship with him, I knew leaving school was the next step in that plan for me. So I took it. I stepped out in faith, knowing three things for sure: I wanted to live simply, share the gospel, and never stop adventuring... These things are what led me to van life today. It's an avenue for me to not only be challenged and grow but to do what I love. It's a lifestyle in which I thrive.

Tell us a little more about Slow Road Supply and what it means to you.
Slow Road Supply is a combination of the artist and entrepreneur in me. It's an accessory and lifestyle brand I launched just this year. I love it because it's a fun way for me to bring my designs to life and share them with others. My hope is that it not only brings joy to other people but also acts as a reminder: Slow down and enjoy the journey. We live in a fast-paced world, and I'd hate for you to miss out on the little things.. because as cliché as it sounds, it's true. It really is the little things that make all the difference.

What's it like living in Portland?
Good question! I haven't been here long, and I spend the majority of my free time traveling outside the city, but I can definitely say it's got a lot of character and there's so much to do too. It's both an exciting and creative environment making it really quite unique. It's also close to the mountains and the coast. That's easily my favorite part.

You have a pretty cool VW Westfalia, where all have you taken her?
We haven't been all over, but we've covered a good amount of ground. The Midwest, Colorado, Georgia, and South Carolina were a few of our first trips. Recently I drove from Illinois to Oregon too. That's been the best one yet.

What gets you out of bed in the morning?
Honestly, it's a simple fact that this life is a gift. God didn't create you and me on accident, and knowing that gives me a sense of purpose.. and I want to share that with others. I want people to know they're loved and important and that this life is worth living. I want them to carry the same hope that Christ has given me because it changes things. It's more than enough reason to get out of bed.

What's next?
Right now I'm working, saving, and traveling throughout the PNW when I can. I'm in the "planning" stage of an adventure soon to come, so if you'd like to stay up to date you can find me on Instagram!
